Titanfall is an action FPS (First Person Shooter) mech-style game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by EA Games. This release is exclusively for Microsoft systems, PC and XBox: it is available for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. One of the strongest points of Titanfall is its use of mechanical Titans in the battle, which sets this title apart from other famous shooters such as Call of Duty or Battlefield.
In Titanfall, players are free to move on foot, or become pilots of colossal mech-like Titans, to fulfill the objectives assigned to the team. Bear in mind that Titanfall is an exclusively multi-player game, although there are single-player features such as the inclusion of NPCs (Non-Playable Characters) in battles.
Titanfall features two factions at war: IMC (Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation), a huge industrial conglomerate that works as a military corporation against M-COR, a faction formed out of various human militias who oppose the IMC forces. IMC sends its fleets to distant colonies to exploit new resources. Inhabitants of invaded colonies have lost their homes and livelihoods, so they band together as the MCOR, starting a war.
Titans are the undisputed kings of the battlefield
This release offers enclosed but large maps in which vertical space is far more important than horizontal space. This is one of the things that make this title unique: you have to move fast and pull off some free-running tricks such as wall running to move across the battlefield, similar to the movements seen in Mirror’s Edge. Moving fast is even more important than being accurate, as Titanfall rewards your positioning, reflexes and cleverness more than realistic accuracy.
Titans are the undisputed kings of the battlefield. You can maneuver them and take advantage of cannons, heavy machineguns and rocket launchers, forming their limbs to destroy everything in your path. Titans can be dropped out of the sky once you have enough points or completed objectives to call on them. There are different Titan models available, such as The Ogre, The Stryder or The Atlas, each one with its own specialization and weapon set.
Soldiers are also specialized to cover different roles such as recon, tactic or scout, equipped with rifle, machinegun and shotgun respectively. They each have different camouflages, jetpacks, lethal accessories, and radars. Playing each class is completely different, even more so when you customize these by adding perks or upgrades for your Titan.
